What a customs warehouse is

Customs warehousing is a special procedure under the Union Customs Code. Goods from third countries are stored under customs supervision and import duties and VAT are paid only when the goods leave the warehouse for free circulation. If you export them or send them onward in transit, no duties are paid.

What it means for you

  • duty and VAT deferred until sale or call-off
  • one shipment split into several imports as you need them
  • storage of goods of different status: domestic and customs
  • re-export or transit without duties
  • goods near the Port of Koper, not in the port, without terminal demurrage

What we can do with the goods under supervision

Usual forms of handling: inspection, counting, re-palletising, labelling, sampling, weighing and preparation for dispatch. Transfer from the container into a vehicle or transloading of big-bags into a silo truck is possible before the goods are cleared. [confirm: customs warehouse authorisation type and permitted forms of handling]
