The transloading process

Five steps from receiving the bags to a silo truck on the road. Each step has its own check and its own document.

How it works

  1. Receive: a truck with pallets at the loading dock of the hall, a forklift unloads the pallets.

    Receive

Bags arrive by truck or container from the Port of Koper. We check labels, seals and contamination.

  2. Store: big-bags on pallets, stacked dry inside the hall.

    Store

Kept dry in our hall until your truck is booked.

  3. Empty: a forklift holds a big-bag over the discharge station with a sieve while a worker opens it.

    Empty and sieve

Each bag empties through a sieve that catches lumps and packaging residue.

  4. Load: discharge station with a conveyor lifting the material into the silo truck.

    Load

Material flows into a clean silo trailer, batches kept separate.

  5. Dispatch: silo truck inside the hall, ready to leave for the customer’s plant.

    Document

Weighing ticket, cleaning certificate and batch record go with every load.

Before arrival

When the quote is confirmed we agree a receiving slot and receive the safety or technical data sheet. For containers from the Port of Koper we arrange the haulage to the hall and, if needed, the customs procedure. Bags must be labelled with material name and batch number, undamaged and dry.

How the material flows

A forklift lifts the bag over the discharge station. The material falls freely through a sieve into the hopper, and from there a belt conveyor or a screw conveyor lifts it into the silo truck through the top hatch. The belt is gentler on granules, the screw is faster with powders and is cleaned between batches. The sieve keeps foreign matter out, and loading one batch at a time keeps batches separate.

Quality control

On every load:

  • labels, seals and bag damage checked on receipt, with photos if agreed
  • the sieve at the discharge station holds back lumps, strings and packaging residue
  • the trailer is cleaned before loading and carries a cleaning certificate
  • one batch, one trailer or separate compartments [confirm]
  • weighing on the scale [confirm: certified for trade]

Documents that travel with the load

Weighing ticket, cleaning certificate for the trailer and batch record (bag numbers, supplier, date). On request also photos of the bags and copies of the seals.

How long it takes

One 25-tonne silo truck is loaded in about [X] hours, depending on material and bag type. Hall capacity is [X] t per day. We confirm the slot with the order.
